AirAsia Expands Route Network
New routes from Johor Bahru – Medan & Jakarta plus increase of frequency from Malaysia to various Indonesian destinations as well as from Kuala Lumpur – Kuching, Bintulu & Bangkok. AirAsia’s Malaysian-Indonesian connectivity is now enhanced with the launch of the airline’s two new routes, Johor Bahru – Medan and Johor Bahru – Jakarta.
Operated by AirAsia Group’s affiliate AirAsia Indonesia, Johor Bahru – Medan flights are available 3x weekly, while Johor Bahru – Jakarta available 4x weekly. The airline is offering promotional all-in-fares to celebrate the launch of the new routes. Flights are offered with fares from as low as *RM134 (IDR 449,000) one way for Johor Bahru – Medan and from as low as *RM164 (IDR 594,000) one way for Johor Bahru – Jakarta.
Booking is open now until 21 April 2013, with the travel period from 7 June to 30 September, available at http://www.airasia.com as well as via AirAsia’s mobile booking platforms through WAP enabled phones at mobile.airasia.com and AirAsia apps on iPhone and Android devices.
Besides the new routes, AirAsia is also increasing flight frequencies to destinations in Indonesia from its Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru hubs. Kuala Lumpur – Medan is now 46x weekly, Kuala Lumpur – Surabaya 7x daily, Penang – Medan 35x weekly, Penang – Surabaya 7x weekly and Johor Bahru – Surabaya 7x weekly.
Promotional all-in-fares are also offered, with the booking period from 15 – 21 April 2013. All-in fares for Kuala Lumpur – Medan is from as low as *RM79 one way and Penang – Medan from as low as *RM69 one way, with the travel period from 7 June – 30 Sept 2013.
Also available on the same booking period (15 – 21 April 2013) are flights from Kuala Lumpur – Surabaya from as low as *RM129 one way, Penang – Surabaya from as low as *RM269 one way and Johor Bahru – Surabaya from as low as *RM229 one way. Travel period is from 13 June – 30 Sept 2013.
AirAsia Indonesia also launched a new Indonesian domestic route, Medan – Jakarta, with promotional fares from as low as *RM170 (IDR 499,000). This promotion is open from now until 21 April 2013, travel period from 7 June – 30 September 2013.
Indonesia is a very important market for the airline and presents ample opportunities for market growth. With a sustained economic growth, more of people are able and keen to fly due to improved spending power, factors which underline AirAsia’s belief in the growth potential of Indonesia’s aviation sector.
There are also additional frequencies for domestic destinations with the introduction of Kuala Lumpur – Kuching’s 15th daily frequency which will commence operations on 27 May 2013, as well Kuala Lumpur – Bintulu’s 3rd frequency effective 10 June 2013. These additional frequencies are available for booking online from today until 21 April and all-in-fares are from as low as RM59 one way for Kuala Lumpur – Kuching, and RM99 one way for Kuala Lumpur – Bintulu.
AirAsia is also introducing additional frequencies from Kuala Lumpur – Bangkok (DMK) with all-in-fares from as low as *RM119 one way. There will now be 66x weekly flights to Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur, effective 11 June 2013. The additional frequencies are applicable on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
