Langkawi Is Prepared For LIMA 2013
Langkawi is again ready to host the 2013 Langkawi International Air and Maritime Exhibition (LIMA) on March 26-30. Among reparations which had been completed was work to upgrade the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), which is the main venue for the event.
Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Planning and Development) Hanaffi Ahmad said, work to upgrade MIEC was carried out via fast track since Dec 9, costing RM24.95 million. He said, several facilities were added, such as lifts at the viewing deck.
“We carried out many renovations because the MIEC hall can also be used for other events. We want to hold many international events,” he told reporters after a ceremony to hand over the MIEC hall project by Pembinaan BLT Sdn Bhd to LADA at MIEC here, Thursday.
Hanaffi said, international events like LIMA, not only benefited investors who came to Langkawi but impacted positively on the local populace. MIEC is the venue for the air segment for LIMA while the maritime segment is at Awana Porto Malai. At the latest edition of LIMA, 450 exhibitors would take part compared to 403 in 2011.
